Bridal Fashion Week: Wedding Dress Trend Report 2019

While we’re glad to see some of the classics are sticking around, 2019 puts the spotlight on off-the-shoulder sleeves, 90s silhouettes, jumpsuits, sheer fabrics, backless styles, crop tops and separates – there’s also a host of new and developing trends we’re excited to see our real brides rocking in the next couple of years.

Something Blue

We’re all for wedding dresses with a little colour, and from sky to cornflower, the touches of blue on the bridal runways were like a breath of fresh air!

3D Florals

This trend has been around for a while, but this season, it’s easier to reel off the designers who didn’t have 3D florals in their collection, than the ones who did. Giving everything from a hint of texture to a statement feature, we love this one for its romance and playful possibilities!

Big Ballgowns

Every season offers up a few big ballgowns, but this year they were back in the mainstream – the bigger the better. These Disney wedding-worthy gowns might seem a bit classic, but for 2019, they couldn’t be more in vogue. If you can walk through a standard doorway wearing your wedding dress, it isn’t big enough!

Tiered Skirts

Tiered skirts are everywhere this season!

Foliage Appliqué

We’re used to seeing floral appliqué all over the runways, but as foliage becomes a lasting trend in wedding floristry, it seems it’s filtered through to the gowns as well.

Dresses with High Neck

Now this is a trend we adore! High neck wedding dresses have been popping up for a few seasons, but they became an official trend for Spring 2019, with elegant lace, long sleeves, or pretty broderie Anglais. A beautiful trend for church weddings too!

Mr & Mrs Mullan

Kim & Richard tied the knot at The Royal Arms, Sutton Cheney, Leicestershire on the 10th November, 2018.

Kim’s three bridesmaids wore grey while her Maid of Honour wore navy. Their colour scheme worked impeccably well together creating a truly unique look.

 

50 guests watched the ceremony and a further 70 joined evening celebrations.

Kim and Richard highlights from their special day was seeing everything coming together as many activities were planned including a slime party, festival glitter, bouncy castle, role play area, table tennis and snooker! ‘We did have rain and it was very cold but you can’t see that in the picture.’ Mrs Mullan.

Our gorgeous bride told us, ‘My dress was truly perfect 😊 I visited the burton store to find my dream dress, the lady’s there were fab! I knew it was the perfect dress as soon as I put it on. Thank you!’

Mr & Mrs Berresford

Sammie & Craig tied the know at Last Drop Village in Bolton on the 9th November, 2018.

The couple chose a colour scheme of grey and pale blue which their bridesmaids, flower-girls, ushers and their Son Freddie brought through in their attire and flowers.

Sammie’s bouquet, along with her entire ensemble, was simple stunning.

60 guests joined them at the ceremony with a total of 120 at the evening do. Both Sammie and Craig struggled to choose a highlight from their Big Day as the whole day flew by and from start to finish it was truly an amazing occasion. 

Our bride told us, ‘I purchased my wedding dress with you earlier in the year at your Stockport branch. I absolutely loved my dress and got so many compliments on it.It was perfect.’ 

Sammie looked every inch the perfect bride in our Rose S gown. Many congratulations to Mr & Mrs Berresford on tying the knot!

Mr & Mrs Kondratowicz

Meagan and Mariusz married at Disley Golf Club, on the 8th September, 2018.

It was an intimate affair and spending time with their loved ones was one highlight the happy couple took away from their special day. They said, “It rained non stop but we didn’t let it ruin our day!”

Meagan’s bridesmaid wore floral tea length gowns complimenting the pink and cream colour scheme which also ran through their rose bouquets provided by The Wishing Well Flowers.

Our bride told us, “I bought this dress from you in January and I absolutely loved it and wanted to show you how much I did by these photos! Thank you so much for finding me the dress of my dreams!!!”

Meagan’s fittingly wore the Meg gown which she looked simply stunning in. Many congratulations to Mr & Mrs Kondratowicz on tying the knot!

Mr & Mrs Stefan

Cornelia and Ionut married 3rd September 2018 in Bucharest, Romania.

 

The happy couple chose pink as their colour scheme which their bridesmaids brought through with pretty tu-tu’s!

Mr & Mrs Stefan had a photoshoot on the beach following their nuptials and Cornelia even took to the sea in her gown! Luckily the sun was shining all day.

Many guests joined in celebrations, dancing the night away. Our bride told us, ‘ Thank you very much for my beautiful dress. I felt like a princess!’

Cornelia wore our stunning Serendipity gown, available in all stores and sizes while stocks last.

Mr & Mrs Crow

Suzannah and Stephen married on the 1st of September 2018 at their local church, St Hilda’s in Danby. It was here, upon the North Yorkshire Moors, where Suzanna’s parents also were married 40 years ago. Following the ceremony, the happy couple held their reception at Danby Village Hall which their families helped to decorate. Suzannah’s Mum grew plants and flowers and it was totally transformed.

Their multi coloured theme reflected their personalities which ran alongside burlap and lace to bring in the vintage style Suzannah adores. She had 4 bridesmaids, 2 sisters, her husband’s eldest niece and her best friend from Sweden.

65 guests joined Mr & Mrs Crow in their celebrations which kept their want for a small wedding.

A special highlight for Suzannah was having her dad walk her down the aisle as he was diagnosed with cancer earlier in the year. Suzannah said, ‘To have him there and enjoying himself so he could concentrate and think about something else for one day was amazing.’

‘Oh and my shoes kind of stole the show as in my style I had to have a pair of sparkly Dorothy shoes!’

A combination of a local band, a vocalist and a DJ as well as a photo booth were the couples choices of entertainment but Suzannah took this up a notch by hiring a facepainter to face paint and do festival glitter, which went down a treat!

Their photographer was Amy Kelly from Whitby and we must admit, her photographs are beautiful.

Our bride told us, ‘A  few months ago I came to Newcastle to try and find my wedding dress.

Being a plus size I didn’t have high hopes and was incredibly nervous and anxious about trying anything on and feeling comfortable.

Sara helped calm me and focus on what I wanted. I knew when I found my dream dress. I felt amazing and would like to thank you so much for all Sara’s help. We had an amazing day.’

Suzannah wore the stunning Rose S gown and looked every inch the perfect bride. Many congratulations to Mr & Mrs Crow on tying the knot.

Mr & Mrs Gustafson

Kerry and Robert married at the stunning St Helens Church in Lowfell, Gateshead on the 25th August, 2018.

 

A total of eight bridesmaids wore beautiful navy gowns and Kerry brought a touch of blush into her colour scheme with her bouquet.

 

 

140 guests joined in the celebrations. Our bride told us, “Linda from your Newcastle store helped me find my dress. I told her I would send photos but also wanted to thank her for an amazing service and for helping me choose my dream dress!”

Vicki and Mees tied the knot against the stunning backdrop of Dome beach, Cyprus on the 9th October, 2018.

The happy couple chose just one bridesmaid and page boy to join their intimate affair of 40 guests.

A theme of coral, blue and hessian ran throughout their special day, creating beautiful photo opportunities and capturing their relaxed beach vibe.

 

Our bride told us, “We had an amazing day. My veil, tiara and dress were all from your Newcastle branch. I’m so glad I found you and hope to inspire more people to choose you for their dream dress. Thanks again!”

Mr & Mrs Edwards

Dionne and Curtis tied the knot at the Victoria Warehouse in Manchester on the 27th July, 2018.

Their rose gold and grey colour scheme was bang on trend and the happy couple brought this through their wedding party attire plus stunning decor.

A total of 80 guests watched Mr & Mrs Edwards tie the knot and a further 40 joined in with the evening celebrations.

 

Dionne said, “I bought my wedding dress from you guys 3 years ago but only got married in July!!

I was and still am completely in love with my Victoria S gown. It was perfect for me!

I also bought the veil and belt form you guys too and just wanted to say thank you to all the staff at the Stockport store for all their help and patience with me. Anything I asked for was never an issue. The girl that helped me was amazing and I will always remember how much she went out of her way to help me and make my experience of picking the perfect dress effortless. Thank you!!!”
